Canadian father Daniel Kablutsiak committed to a year-long weight-loss plan to support his son, Hunter.

Daniel lost 79 pounds so that he would be able to give Hunter one of his kidneys.

  • 16-year-old Hunter was diagnosed with stage 5 kidney disease in 2020.
  • Daniel said his son's treatment, which includes 10 pills a day, "drains his energy."
  • Daniel was identified as a potential organ donor along with his other children, but his weight made him ineligible for the procedure.
  • He started exercising and following a diet in order to qualify for the surgery.
  • After reaching his weight loss goal in March, Daniel met the requirements for the transplant surgery, which is scheduled to take place in June.
