The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy found that 73% of 16- to 24-year-olds in the U.K. report that the climate crisis harms their mental health.

This is an increase from 61% in 2020.

  • Climate anxiety is affecting the mental health of young people in the UK.
  • Dr. Gareth Morgan, a clinical psychologist, suggests therapy and medication as secondary to a more significant political response.
  • Participation, activism, and connection with other people can help alleviate the distress caused by the climate crisis.
  • Lily Henderson, a student, emphasizes the importance of activism and community.
  • Jem, a nature conservation worker, is on antidepressants but believes they are not a solution.
  • Climate anxiety is reportedly not just an individual problem but a societal one.
