Equator has raised $40M to invest in African startups that tackle climate change. 

 The firm's average check size ranges from $1M to $4M.

  • Equator aims to invest mainly in Seed and Series A-stage African startups. 
  • The company aims to deploy this fund in around 15 companies.
  • The firm will focus on three sectors:
    • energy,
    • agriculture, and
    • mobility.
  • BII, the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet, hell Foundation, and DOEN led the funding round.
  • The firm has offices in Nairobi, Lagos, London, and Colorado.
