European telecommunications giant Vodafone has completed the deployment of six Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) regions and three data centers in Europe.
This is part of a partnership between Oracle and the telco, which was announced in June 2022.
- Both companies announced the completion of the deployment at Oracle Cloud World London last week.
- Vodafone
entered into a multi-year agreement with Oracle last year to modernize
its IT infrastructure and accelerate its transition to the cloud.
- The six new regions are Germany, Ireland, and Italy, with two regions in every country.
- So far, Vodafone has migrated 150 out of its 6,000 databases at a rate of up to six per day.
- Pedro
Sardo, IT operations and technology director at Vodafone, stated that
“OCI is, we think, probably the best solution for us in terms of how it
enables us to drive change, but at the pace that the business can
afford, can absorb, and still enables us in the future to really deliver
our public cloud and our cloud-native strategy.”
