"Five Nights at Freddy's" to Peacock

The next horror film from Universal Pictures and Blumhouse -- the video game adaptation "Five Nights at Freddy's" -- will debut simultaneously on October 27 in theaters and on Peacock.

Universal and Blumhouse employed the same release strategy with the slasher sequels "Halloween Kills" and "Halloween Ends" in 2021 and 2022.

  • The film centers on a security guard working the night shift at a pizza parlor where the animatronic characters come to life and go on killing sprees.
  • The cast includes Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, and Matthew Lillard; Jim Henson's Creature Shop worked on the animatronic effects.
  • Besides Blumhouse's "Halloween" series, Universal and Peacock have also experimented with simultaneous theatrical and streaming releases on the films "The Boss Baby: Family Business" and "Marry Me."
