Google Cloud recently announced enhancements to AlloyDB , its intelligent, database-aware storage for PostgreSQL.
The search giant shared this news at its Data Cloud and AI summit on Mar. 29.
- AlloyDB launched in 2022 and is a fully-managed, PostgreSQL-compatible database built to handle enterprise-grade transactional and analytical workloads.
- PostgreSQL is an open-source object-relational database system that uses the SQL programming language.
- Google Cloud has unveiled AlloyDB Omni, an updated version of AlloyDB that enables users to download and run the database system on laptops, servers, or edge devices.
- In addition, Google Cloud has also debuted a Database Migration Assessment Program purported to speed up migration by providing tools, resources, and expertise from Google Cloud’s network of specialized technology partners.
- Vendors that have recently achieved the Cloud Ready for AlloyDB designation include SnapLogic and Quest Software. So far, 30 partners have already achieved this designation.
