Spain’s largest energy company Iberdrola has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support the development of large-scale renewable energy products, including new PPAs for new wind and solar projects in Europe, the U.S., and APAC.
The collaboration allows Iberdrola to leverage AWS’ cloud computing technology to drive its digital transformation plans.
The partnership will provide Iberdrola with access to AWS’s recently launched AWS Europe (Spain) region and its cloud services to enable digitization for the development of its smart grids, customer engagement, and connected clean energy.
- Through the collaboration, AWS and Iberdrola are developing an Advanced Intelligent Assistant application that lets users track their carbon footprint and reduce their energy bills. This application will also incorporate AWS Lambda and Amazon Sage Maker to connect with EV chargers and solar panels.
- The alliance is mutually beneficial, as Iberdrola will provide Amazon with 1.1 TWh of clean energy per year, sourced from its offshore wind farms in Germany.
