Hulu announced a line-up of three new original documentaries.
The list includes "Freaknik: The Wildest Party Never Told," "Queenmaker: The Making of an It Girl," and "The Jewel Thief."
- "Freaknik"
centers on a small Atlanta event sponsored by HBCUs in 1983 that became
an "influential street party" showcasing the city as "a major cultural
stage"; both Jermaine Dupri and Luther Campbell executive produced the
project.
- "Queenmaker: The Making of an It Girl" chronicles the now-defunct blog "Park Avenue Peerage," which featured gossip about New York high society written by an anonymous outsider.
- "The Jewel Thief" relates the story of Canadian "criminal mastermind" Gerald Blanchard, from the perspectives of the two Winnipeg detectives who tracked him across the globe.
