Rivian is planning to open its Adventure Charging Network to other EV brands following Tesla's decision to enable other vehicles to use Supercharger stations. Rivian released a software update to enable customers to see Tesla Superchargers in the navigation system.
Chinese EV company BYD is considering investing $290M into the production of 50,000 metric tons per year of lithium iron phosphate in Chile. The Chilean government previously canceled a $120M BYD project to extract 80,000 metric tons of the material.
Merlin, a developer of autonomous flight control systems, is planning to deliver cargo using a self-flying modified Cessna (with a safety pilot on board) between Fairbanks, Galena, and Prudhoe Bay in Alaska. In October, Xwing, which also works on autonomous modified Cessna aircraft, partnered with NASA to evaluate the safety of runway detection for vision-based landing.
Ford has started taking pre-orders of the electric F-150 Lightning truck in Europe, starting in Norway. The automaker sold 15,617 F-150 Lightning units in the U.S. in 2022.
