Sober-friendly options continue to grow

 

Non-alcoholic drinks, including non-alcoholic beer and cider, are growing in popularity and sales, with the global market surpassing $11B in 2022.  

The craft beer community has also grown significantly in the last two decades. 

  • According to a report by IWSR Drinks Market Analysis, the most significant contributor to the growth of NA products is no-alcohol beer and cider.
    • The US and Japan are the biggest markets for non-alcoholic RTDs.
  • More restaurants and bars offer non-alcoholic options, such as mocktails and N/A drinks, to cater to the increasing demand for these beverages.
  • Ghostlight Coffee's non-alcoholic bottle shop, which opened in 2022, reflects the growing trend towards non-alcoholic beverages, including spirits, wine, and craft beer.
  • Lagunitas Brewing Company's Hoppy Refresher is a popular new product, a zero-alcohol, zero-carb, and zero-calorie beverage that uses hops and brewer's yeast. 
  • Guinness has also entered the non-alcoholic market with Guinness 0, a non-alcoholic stout that retains the flavor of the original beer through a cold filtration method.

  • Other non-alcoholic beer options like Heineken's 0.0 and Lagunitas IPNA are becoming more prevalent on menus as the consumer interest in NA beverages grows.
