Sony Interactive Entertainment said it struck a deal to acquire game developer Firewalk Studios from the gaming collective ProbablyMonsters, Inc.

 

Sony Interactive Entertainment said it struck a deal to acquire game developer Firewalk Studios from the gaming collective ProbablyMonsters, Inc. 

 Financial terms weren't disclosed. The deal will make Firewalk the 20th developer to join Sony's PlayStation Studios.

  • Firewalk is currently working on an unidentified AAA multiplayer video game for PlayStation 5 and PC, with Sony as the publisher.
  • The Bellevue, Washington-based studio, led by former Bungie and Activision veterans, has nearly 150 employees, who all will join the PlayStation brand.
  • PlayStation currently has 10 live-service games under development. Sony has been investing heavily into these games, which single titles that are continually updated as a way to keep players engaged.
  • In July, Sony closed on its $3.7B purchase of Destiny 2 and Halo developer Bungie. It also acquired Haven Entertainment, the development studio founded by veteran Jade Raymond, last year.
