Spanish extreme athlete Beatriz Flamini emerged from a 500-day stay in a cave near the city of Granada.   The 50-year-old spent her last two birthdays in the cave, without any human contact. Flamini's sojourn in the cave was monitored by a team of psychologists and speleologists studying the impact of extreme isolation on people's perception of time. She said she lost track of time after approximately two months and at times experienced "auditory hallucinations." She entertained herself by drawing, exercising, and knitting hats. Her support team said she read 60 books and consumed 1,000 liters of water. Flamini, who emerged from the cave with a smile, said the experience was "unbeatable."
