The new streaming service Thunderflix is curated to appeal specifically to heavy metal fans.
The ad-free subscription platform features live shows, performance
footage, scripted and documentary films, and more content relating to
all eras and sub-genres of metal music, and appropriately costs $6.66
per month.
- The platform was created by Hola Mexico Film Festival founder and former film distributor Samuel Douek.
- It's available around the world, except in Russia, which Douek specifically blocked due to the ongoing Ukrainian invasion.
- Douek
compiles the platform's content from film distributors and record
labels, but he's also in contact with a number of specific bands as
well, many of whom control the rights to their own classic concert DVDs.
- So
far, the most-streamed content on Thunderflix are the
documentaries "Murder in the Front Row: The San Francisco Bay Area
Thrash Metal Story" and "Death by Metal," and performances from Slipknot
and Megadeth.
- For now, the platform is only accessible via an invite-only beta.
