Transportation management systems company Trimble acquired competitor Transporeon for $1.98B in an all-cash deal. Trimble is seeking to expand the use of Transporeon's empty truck and carbon emissions tracking capabilities.

Walmart revealed it is planning to add "thousands" of EV chargers to its locations by 2030, adding to the existing 1,300 stations in 280 stores. Last month, Walmart ordered 4,500 Canoo electric delivery vans.

FedEx revealed its plan to save $700M by prioritizing ground transportation when possible and outsourcing more flights, among other areas. Last month, the courier began reductions to Sunday delivery service to "more than 50%" of the U.S. population.

Alaska Airlines is requesting approval from the Department of Transportation to expand its codesharing agreement with Japan Airlines to include flights between the U.S. and Japan from the current program involving flights within North America. Earlier this week, American Airlines requested approval from the Department of Justice for its codesharing agreement with JetSmart.

Switzerland is seeking to eliminate its tax exception for EVs starting Jan. 1, 2024, and return to a 4% tax per vehicle. The move comes two weeks after the government of Ireland announced a reduction in its EV subsidy from €5,000 to €3,000 (~$5,415 to $3,248) starting July 1.
