Trump travels to NYC for arraignment

Former President Donald Trump traveled to New York to be arraigned on criminal charges in an expected court appearance on Tuesday. Trump faces more than 30 criminal counts related to an alleged hush payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in the weeks leading up to the 2016 election.

  • Trump's legal team said he would voluntarily surrender to New York authorities.
  • He is accused of directing his former lawyer Michael Cohen to pay $130,000 to Daniels to ensure she would not go public about an alleged affair she had with Trump in 2006.
  • Trump, who is the first current or former U.S. president to face criminal charges, is expected to return to his home in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, after being arraigned on Tuesday afternoon.
  • Trump's 2024 presidential campaign said it raised more than $5M in the two days following the announcement of Trump's indictment last week.

  • Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said she would travel to New York City to protest Trump's indictment and arrest.
  • New York City Mayor Eric Adams warned her and other potential "rabble-rousers" to stay on their best behavior while in New York.
