Trump's arraignment to end decades of invincibility

Donald Trump is to be arraigned in court next week on criminal charges, including at least one felony offense, finally ending four decades of "Teflon Don" avoiding serious legal jeopardy through multiple allegations of fraud, collusion, and sexual misconduct.

The charges came after an investigation into hush money payments made to women during Trump's 2016 campaign. Although the indictment is still sealed, CNN has reported that he faces more than 30 counts of business fraud.

Trump will be fingerprinted and photographed before entering a plea.

  • This marks the first time a former U.S. president has faced criminal charges.
  • Trump's indictment pierces the cloak of invincibility that seemed to follow him through his decades in business and politics.
  • Trump could seek to have the case dismissed, and there's no guarantee of conviction.
    • Criminal investigations in Georgia and Washington, D.C., could end with indictments on more serious charges.
  • The campaign announced that it had raised over $4M 24 hours after the indictment became public.
    • More than 25% of donations came from first-time donors.

Trump's team is reportedly trying to use the news to his advantage, hoping to energize his loyal base by painting the investigation as part of a plot by "Radical Left Democrats" to derail his candidacy.
