Fatal tornadoes across South and Midwest

A powerful storm hit large areas of the South and Midwest, leaving at least 21 people dead. 

The tornadoes occurred just a week after a similar event left 25 people dead in Mississippi and Alabama.

Multiple tornadoes hit Arkansas, resulting in four deaths and dozens of injuries.

  • In Little Rock, one person was killed, and 24 were hospitalized due to severe damage to homes and storefronts.
  • Illinois was also affected by a tornado, causing one death and 28 injuries in a roof collapse at the Apollo Theatre in Belvidere.
  • Indiana's Sullivan County experienced three deaths due to a tornado.
  • One elderly woman died in Alabama after a tornado struck her home.
  • The exact link between tornadoes and climate change is uncertain.
