Microsoft will integrate Bing as the default search engine in ChatGPT.
Microsoft made the announcement at its Build developer conference, saying that Bing integration is now available for ChatGPT Plus users and will roll out later to free users through a separate plugin.
- With the update, OpenAI's chat service will be able to provide real-time web information and citations to users and is no longer limited to data prior to September 2021.
- In the past, ChatGPT depended on individual plugins to access current information. The Bing web search is now enabled for Plus subscribers as an option under GPT-4.
- While Microsoft has already incorporated OpenAI technology into Bing and other products, the update brings Bing into OpenAI's ecosystem.

Other Build announcements:
- Bing Chat will also be integrated into Windows 11 with a new "Windows Copilot" directly within the taskbar, allowing users to access the "personal assistant" across all apps and programs.
- That feature will launch as a test in June, offering things like content summarization, rewriting, and explanations. It will be a separate Copilot button alongside the Windows 11 search bar in the taskbar.
Plugins:
- Microsoft is also adopting OpenAI's open plugin standard for interoperability between Bing Chat, Microsoft's Copilot platform, and ChatGPT.
- Developers will be able to build their own plugins that enable copilots to interact with separate software.
- Bing is also introducing plugin support for third-party companies, including Instacart, Kayak, Klarna, Redfin, and Zillow.
- As well, a new curated AI Hub in the Microsoft Store promotes top AI experiences by developers and Microsoft.
- Finally, Microsoft Azure will launch an AI-powered service for comment moderation on social media.
