Ford to lay off 1,300 employees in China

Ford is reportedly planning to lay off 1,300 employees in China.

"Our costs are not competitive, and we are working internally and with our partners to reduce costs in all areas," said a spokesperson for the automaker.

  • Ford currently sells a single model in China, the Mustang Mach-E. The company plans to remain in the market with "new localized products under development."
  • Earlier this year, the automaker revealed its plan to reduce its headcount by 3,800 in Europe, driven by the switch to EV manufacturing.
  • Ford is estimated to have 173,000 employees globally.
