U.S. Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR)

 

U.S. Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) has adopted digital twin modeling to improve readiness and expedite training.  NAVAIR has implemented digital twin technology for its Airborne Electronic Attack Systems Program (PMA-234). The digital twin allows for error-free manipulation and computer simulations of physical objects. The program focuses on the pod interface unit of the ALQ-99 Tactical Jamming System (TJS), an older technology that converts analog signals to digital signals. The digital twin approach enables testing and exploration of upgrades and troubleshooting in real time. The adoption of digital twins provides increased resiliency, efficiency, adaptability, and autonomy for accelerated learning and system improvements. A recent report by GlobalData highlighted the evolving nature of digital twin technology and the need for implementation beyond just a concept in the broader IoT space.
