Latriece Watkins has become Walmart' chief merchandising officer.
She replaces Charles Redfield, who announced his departure from the role last month.
- Redfield worked at Walmart for over three decades and served as chief merchandising officer for about a year.
- Watkins started working at Walmart two decades ago as a real estate intern.
- She proceeded to serve in key leadership roles within "merchandising, human resources, and store operations," according to Walmart U.S. CEO John Furner.
- Watkins will be the first woman and the first person of color to become Walmart's chief merchandising officer.
- Walmart is currently changing its merchandising strategy by divesting much of its online D2C portfolio.
