Warner Bros Discovery chief David Zaslav was booed by the crowd while giving a commencement speech to Boston University graduates over the weekend. While
accepting an honorary degree from the university, Zaslav was greeted by
chants of "We don't want you here" and "Pay your writers" from the
crowd. - Zaslav periodically paused his remarks to wait out the disruptions.
- He
encouraged graduates to pursue their passions, work hard, and choose
kindness, advising them to "focus on good people's qualities... Figure
out what you like about a person...and do whatever it takes to navigate
their challenges."
- Speaking directly about the Writers Strike,
Zaslav said "I am immensely supportive of writers and hope the strike is
resolved soon and in a way that they feel recognizes their value."
- WGA picketers marched outside throughout the commencement ceremony.
