Web browser Opera integrates MultiversX blockchain

Popular web browser Opera has integrated the metaverse-focused blockchain MultiversX, formerly known as Elrond, into its desktop and Android versions.

The integration will allow Opera users to easily access decentralized applications (dApps) built on MultiversX, transact with the Layer-1 blockchain's native tokens EGLD and ESDT, and connect to MultiversX-based NFTs directly through Opera.

  • The MultiversX network was integrated into Opera's interface.
  • MultiversX CEO Beniamin Mincu said the integration would offer users a more accessible and familiar path into the Web3 ecosystem.
  • Mincu also defined the move as a significant step in creating a simplified entry point to the Web3 world and blockchain assets.
  • According to Mincu's statements, the integration will relieve users of the necessity to understand the underlying complexities while accessing the new digital economy.
  • Opera users on the Android operating system will also be able to access MultiversX-based sites.
  • In February, MultiversX also partnered with the Chinese tech giant Tencent to help the company build its Web3 strategy and develop blockchain-based products jointly.
