Ingelsby's "Mare" follow-up

Mark Ruffalo grabbed the lead role in an upcoming HBO limited drama series from "Mare of Easttown" creator Brad Ingelsby.

The untitled series will split its focus between a task force made up of law enforcement officers and the criminals they are pursuing.

"Mare of Easttown" was nominated for 16 Emmys and ultimately won four, including one for Kate Winslet's lead performance.

  • Ruffalo is also an HBO veteran, having previously starred in the limited series "I Know This Much is True" and the original HBO film "The Normal Heart"; he won an Emmy for playing dual roles in the former.
  • Ingelsby will write and executive produce the new project under his overall deal at HBO.
  • Ingelsby's jump to a new project suggests that, at least for the time being, there are no plans to move ahead with a second "Mare of Easttown" season.
