Survey finds generative AI saves marketers 5 hours of work per week

What happened: A new survey conducted by Salesforce and YouGov has found that marketers are incorporating generative AI into their work for different purposes. The survey, which contains responses from 1,029 full-time marketers, found that 51% said they were either using or experimenting with generative AI at work, while 22% said they plan to use the technology very soon. Another notable finding is that respondents claim that generative AI can save them roughly five hours of work per week. The most common ways that marketers use generative AI are for basic content creation (76%), writing copy (76%), and inspiring creative thinking (71%).

Why it matters: Marketers can leverage generative AI to facilitate communication, aid with various customer-oriented tasks, personalize content, optimize SEO strategies, and create content. This makes generative AI a game-changer that can influence the modern-day approach to marketing. Research shows marketers are using several generative AI tools rather than just one. Data from Botco.ai reveals that ChatGPT is the leading AI tool used for marketing purposes, with 55% of marketing professionals surveyed using the technology. Other tools used include Copy.ai (42%), Jasper.ai (36%), Peppertype.ai (29%), and others.

Where to see the impact: Tech companies know that the advertising/marketing sector can benefit from generative AI and have therefore opted to launch generative AI-powered products designed to simplify marketing tasks. Examples include CRM giant Salesforce, which just released Marketing GPT and Commerce GPT. WPP, the world's largest advertising agency, recently partnered with software titan Nvidia to launch a generative AI-powered content engine.
