A group of 50 organizations is urging U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to establish a firm date for regulatory clarity involving electric scooters.

Lime, Beryl, Dott, and Tier are among the operators requesting a firm commitment.

Currently, e-scooters are only allowed to operate within the trial programs in 23 localities in England.

  • The letter, signed by the Northamptonshire Police, Campaign for Better Transport, and the Transport Action Network, was sent to the Cabinet Office, the Transport Minister, and the Transport Secretary.
  • "We welcomed the fact that the Government has previously put such a commitment into the Queen's Speech, but we deplore the fact that we still have not had legislation to create a new powered light vehicle class. This means the UK is now seriously lagging behind neighbouring and comparable countries," said Richard Dilks, CEO of CoMoUK.
