After a period of rapid expansion, ChatGPT's growth trajectory has finally slowed down.

ChatGPT saw a nearly 10% decrease in global website traffic in June, marking its first decline since its launch in November, according to Similarweb data.

Worldwide desktop and mobile traffic to the ChatGPT website fell by 9.7% last month compared to May.

  • In the U.S. only, the decline was 10.3%.
  • Unique visitors to the website also dipped by 5.7%, and the time spent on the site went down by 8.5% in May.
  • Despite the decline, ChatGPT still attracts more visitors than Micosoft's Bing.com AI search engine and Character.AI, a competing AI chatbot site.
  • It claims over 1.5 billion monthly visits, ranking among the top 20 websites globally.

The recent launch of the ChatGPT app on iOS may have contributed to the decline in site traffic.

  • Summer break for schools may also be a factor as fewer students use it to help with their coursework.
