Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba has released its own AI image generator to customers for beta testing. The tool, called Tongyi Wanxiang, lets users input prompts in both Mandarin and English, and it generates images in different styles like 2D illustrations, sketches, or 3D cartoons. Alibaba Cloud's image generator will compete with rivals like OpenAI's DALL-E and Midjourney. - The division has also launched ModelScopeGPT, an AI tool that does specialized tasks for developers.
- In addition, Chinese tech giant Huawei demonstrated the newest version of its Pangu AI model at its annual developer conference.
- Pangu 3.0 focuses on industrial applications such as safety inspections for freight train carriages, AI assistance for government services, and improved weather prediction.
In April, Alibaba began allowing corporate customers to test out its ChatGPT-style AI chatbot, "Tongyi Qianwen." - A Chinese website for the model describes it as a productivity assistant and idea generator that responds to user commands using a large language model.
- The model has received 300,000 enterprise beta testing requests since launch.
