China Mobile is propelling the metaverse forward through partnerships with tech giants like Huawei and Xiaomi, aiming to create a robust metaverse ecosystem in China.  The company has established a member alliance fund to support innovative metaverse projects and invest in XR content creation and hardware development. China Mobile announced its metaverse initiative at the Mobile World Congress Shanghai event, revealing the first 24 members of the alliance, including HTC and Unity China. The primary goal of this alliance is to foster metaverse development in China by promoting inter-company collaboration. China Mobile aims to create the world's strongest metaverse circle of friends, a "win-win concept" expected to bring new sources of income to the virtual economy. The member alliance fund established by China Mobile supports innovative projects and investments in XR content creation and hardware. Zhao Dachun, the deputy manager of China Mobile, highlighted the potential of the metaverse, stating it could generate trillions of yuan and play a crucial role in the construction of digital China. China is experiencing significant growth in the metaverse industry; in 2023, it is expected to grow 39.5%, according to figures from Research and Markets.
