GitHub launched the public beta of passkeys, a passwordless option that allows users to upgrade security keys to passkeys and replace their password and 2FA method. The beta feature is available under Feature Preview and can be enabled by clicking the username in the GitHub application. According to the Fido Alliance, passwords are the root cause of 80% of data breaches.
