Flightcatchers has partnered with King Meta Ltd. to establish a virtual store in the "World Travel Village," marking an industry first in the metaverse.

The move aims to tap into a "new audience" and sustain growth, with the company's annual revenue having surged due to increased demand for Europe and Africa.

Flightcatchers, part of Polani Travel, primarily sells flights to the British market, with popular destinations including Pakistan, India, the UAE, and Thailand.

  • The virtual store allows customers to learn about destinations and book tickets via the Flightcatchers website without removing their VR headsets.
  • The company is exploring the potential of "metaverse fares" through its joint venture with King Meta.
  • Flightcatchers' supplier relations director, Nasser Siddiq, anticipates the company's presence in the metaverse will help push revenue beyond £200M.
  • Siddiq believes other industry players will follow Flightcatchers' lead into the metaverse.

The global VR market was valued at $15.81B in 2020 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18.0% from 2021 to 2028.
