Major U.S. AI companies, including Amazon, Anthropic, Google, Inflection, Meta, Microsoft, and OpenAI, have made a commitment to embrace voluntary AI safeguards endorsed by the White House.

The decision was reached during a meeting with President Biden, where the companies agreed to adopt eight specific measures aimed at enhancing safety, security, and trust in AI technology.

The measures include third-party model testing, cybersecurity investments, and virtual watermarks for identifying AI-created content.

  • The companies agree to subject their AI systems to independent testing to identify and address potential security flaws.
  • The safeguards have been set in motion while Congress deliberates on implementing long-term regulations for AI.
  • U.S. lawmakers are reportedly considering a bill that would require political campaigns and groups to reveal their use of AI-generated imagery in political ads.
