Google pledges more transparency

 

Google agreed with the European Union to share more information with its customers so they could make more informed purchase decisions.

 The changes will focus on the Play Store, the Google Store, Google Hotels, and Google Flights.

  • Google will be more clear on how to change between different country versions of its Play and Google Store.
  • The company will explicitly provide information on delivery costs, repair or replacement options, and purchase cancellation policies for its products.
  • Google Hotels will now clarify that accommodation reviews are not verified.
  • EU Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders agreed that the commitments made by Google will help consumers make informed choices.
