A report from Synergy Research Group outlines changes in the cloud spending growth rate from 2021 to 2022 and market share trends among the leading cloud providers.
According to the report, in Q4 2022, global enterprise spending on cloud infrastructure surpassed $61B, up $10B YoY.
- The QoQ growth rate for Q4 2022 was 21%, a decrease from the 34% reported in Q4 2021.
- The
report shows Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft, and Google Cloud are
still the top three global cloud providers in terms of their market
share.
- Microsoft’s
worldwide market share increased from 21% in the previous four quarters
to 23% for Q4 2022, while AWS’s and Google’s market share remained
relatively unchanged, at 32%-34% and 11%, respectively.
- Based
on the report, AWS’s net sales growth rate plummeted by eight
percentage points QoQ, compared to a loss of five percentage points for
Google and two for Microsoft.
- Factors
that have impacted cloud spending include a strong U.S. dollar,
COVID-19 restrictions in China, and cost-cutting efforts among cloud
customers amid global inflation.
