An unidentified airborne object was taken down over Yukon territory in Canada on Saturday, marking the third such incident in recent days in North American airspace.
A U.S. military jet downed the object on Saturday on orders of President Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
- This is the third case of the U.S. taking down airborne objects over North America since a Chinese balloon was downed off the Atlantic coast on Feb. 4.
- Shortly after the Saturday operation, the White House released a readout of a call between Biden and Trudeau.
- According to the Canadian Defense Minister, Anita Anand, the object had a cylindrical shape, smaller than the Chinese balloon that was shot down on Feb. 4.
- It was shot down at about 40,000 feet.
- U.S. Commerce Department on Friday blacklisted six Chinese firms it said were involved in the balloon program.
