Amazon expects to have more automated robots than human workers by 2030, according to Cathie Wood, CEO of Ark Invest.  By 2021, Amazon had 1.6 million workers. According to Wood, "for every cumulative doubling in the number of robots produced, the cost declines are in the 50-60% range." AI and battery technology will fuel the movement toward automation. Woods expects that automation will reach the entire manufacturing sector, not only tech companies. Even after Amazon announced 18,000 layoffs, the company has more workers than it did before the pandemic.
