Android released the first developer preview of Android 14 with performance, privacy, security, and user customization enhancements.
Android 14 is expected to be launched in Q3 of this year.
- Android
has created window size classes, sliding pane layout, activity
embedding, and box with constraints to enable developers to build apps
that adapt to different screen sizes.
- Android APIs, Foreground
Services and JobScheduler, get new functionalities for user-initiated
data transfers and an updated requirement to declare foreground service
types.
- Optimizations to the internal broadcast system are aimed at improving battery life and responsiveness.
- Enhanced
accessibility and internationalization features include bigger fonts
with non-linear scaling, per-app language preferences, and Grammatical
Inflection API.
