Bill Gates buys a 3.76% stake in Heineken

 


Bill Gates has bought a 3.76% stake in Heineken Holding NV. 

Gates, the Microsoft billionaire, purchased the stake from Mexico’s FEMSA, which is selling its stake in the brewing company.

  • According to the Netherlands Financial Markets Authority (AFM), Gates purchased 10.8M shares worth €850M ($939.87M) on Feb. 17.
  • The move was a surprise, as Gates has previously admitted he is not a big beer drinker.
    • In 2018, in a chat session on Reddit, Gates said he was "not a big beer drinker."
  • The deal triggered a disclosure requirement under Dutch stock market rules.
