Bill Gates buys a 3.76% stake in Heineken

 

Bill Gates has bought a 3.76% stake in Heineken Holding NV.  Gates, the Microsoft billionaire, purchased the stake from Mexico’s FEMSA, which is selling its stake in the brewing company. According to the Netherlands Financial Markets Authority (AFM), Gates purchased 10.8M shares worth €850M ($939.87M) on Feb. 17. The move was a surprise, as Gates has previously admitted he is not a big beer drinker. In 2018, in a chat session on Reddit, Gates said he was "not a big beer drinker." The deal triggered a disclosure requirement under Dutch stock market rules. Last week, Heineken week reported a 2022 profit jump, with further growth predicted for 2023.
