China's Foreign Ministry has threatened to take measures against U.S. entities linked to the downing of China's suspected spy balloon on Feb. 4.

The announcement comes after the U.S. House of Representatives voted unanimously to condemn China for the incident.

  • The House resolution condemned China for "a brazen violation of United States sovereignty," after a suspected Chinese spy balloon entered U.S. airspace in late January.
  • The U.S. has sanctioned six Chinese aerospace firms that it accused of being linked to Beijing’s balloon surveillance program.
  • China's Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that it will take measures against U.S. entities linked to the downing of the balloon on Feb. 4.
  • The Foreign Affairs Committee of Beijings National People’s Congress issued a statement on Thursday reiterating China's claims that the balloon was used for weather research.
  • The committee said the House had “deliberately exaggerated the ‘China threat,’ and called its unanimous resolution "malicious hype and political manipulation.”
  • U.S. authorities detected a suspected Chinese surveillance balloon flying over U.S. airspace on Jan. 28.
  • A U.S. warplane shot down the balloon off the coast of South Carolina on Feb. 4 after it flew over key U.S. military installations.
