The Neuzeller Klosterbräu brewery in eastern Germany says it has developed the world’s first "complete" powdered beer, which should be available later this year.
Neuzeller has been working on this product over the last two years.
Other powdered beers have already been created, but Neuzeller’s stands out as it is carbonated and contains alcohol.
- Neuzeller’s managing director Stefan Fritsche claims that customers can get the “complete beer taste” simply by adding water.
- The brewery claims it will offer several powdered beer options, including dark beers, light beers, IPAs, alcohol-free beers, and more.
The product can help ease the effects of inflation by reducing shipment weights by 90 percent. Powdered beer eliminates the need for heavy bottles and cans and weighs less than liquid beer. According to Fritsche, inflation and global supply chain disruptions have resulted in glass shortages and skyrocketing energy costs, making this the ideal time to put powdered beer on the market.
- Neuzeller received government funding to finance the development of its powdered beer product.
