Oracle is looking to invest $1.5B in Saudi Arabia to expand its cloud presence in the Gulf state.
The cloud giant plans to open its third public cloud region in Saudi Arabia in Riyadh, the country's capital.
- Oracle has yet to specify a timeline for its planned Riyadh data center, Nick Redshaw, a senior vice president at Oracle, highlighted, "We are finalizing the plans for opening the Riyadh region. We are still working with our suppliers before we can announce the actual date."
- The $1.5B investment would be made over several years and would also be put toward expanding the capacity of its cloud region in Jeddah, which Oracle launched in 2020.
- The Saudi government has been aiming to build more partnerships with international companies over the last few years.
- The LEAP tech conference is being held in Riyadh from Feb. 6-9 and features 100,000+ tech innovators and leading experts from around the world.
