Schibsted, a Norwegian media group, and the European Publishers Council (EPC) urged EU regulators to rein in Apple's antitrust practices.

The media group's comments come as the European Commission's Digital Markets Act (DMA) comes into law in May 2023.

  • Schbisted claims that Apple's App store imposes high fees, controls the entire customer relationship, and withholds user information under the guise of privacy and security.
  • The media group stated that Apple takes advantage of its market share in Scandinavia.
    • In Norway, 60% of consumers have an iPhone.
  • The EPC echoed these concerns.
    • Conde Nast, the New York Times, and The Guardian are members of the council.
