Showtime picked up the comedy series "Uncoupled" for a second season following its cancellation by Netflix.
The
show comes from "Emily in Paris" creator Darren Star and "Modern
Family" vet Jeffrey Richman, and stars Neil Patrick Harris as a
newly-single gay man in his 40s.
- Showtime
-- which will soon be rebranded as Paramount+ with Showtime -- plans to
pair the show with its other series exploring "culturally diverse
takes": "The L Word" and "The Chi."
- Netflix -- which has an overall deal with Star -- canceled the series on January 13.
- Showtime recently cut a number of shows that no longer fit in with its rebranding plans; the drama "Three Women" has already found a new home at Starz.
- In
addition to the "Metro Cultures" block where "Uncoupled" will land,
Showtime is also working on shows featuring "Complex Characters" (such
as "Dexter" and "Yellowjackets") and "Powerful Worlds" (such as
"Billions" and "Homeland.")
