Netflix grabbed the rights to the sci-fi spec script "Seismic," from "Mortal Kombat" co-writer Greg Russo.   The story centers around a single mother who attempts to reunite with her missing son during a devastating attack on Planet Earth. "Stranger Things" vet Shawn Levy will produce via his 21 Laps banner, which has an overall deal with Netflix. "Mortal Kombat" debuted theatrically and on HBO Max in April 2021, and pulled in a robust $23.3 million at the domestic box office. Russo previously wrote a stalled "Robotech" adaptation for director James Wan and Sony and a "Death Note" sequel, also for Netflix.
