The COO of The Sandbox, Sebastien Borget, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Saudi Arabia's Digital Government Authority (DGA) during the 2023 LEAP Technology Conference.   The deal between the Web3 gaming platform and Saudi Arabia applies to "exploring, advising, and supporting mutually each other in activations of the Metaverse," as reflected in Borges' Twitter post.  The agreement between DGA and Sandbox reportedly indicates that national organizations are interested in joining legacy companies seeking to enter the metaverse.  South Korea has been pioneering when it comes to Web3, designing blockchain-based IDs and developing a metaverse version of its capital. In July 2022, Sandbox migrated its smart contract to Polygon Layer 2, and in August, it brought the famous British chef Gordon Ramsay into the metaverse.  Sandbox is also delivering aid to earthquake-stricken Syria and Turkey.
