The Indian Space Research Organization’s (ISRO) Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) launched on Feb. 9 and successfully put three satellites into 450 kilometers circular orbit.
Among the three satellites is the JANUS-1, the world’s first cloud-built demonstration satellite.
- The JANUS-1 is a software-defined 6U technology demonstration satellite.
- India-based Ananth Technologies completed the assembly, integration, and testing of the JANUS-1.
- The satellite uses the Antaris end-to-end cloud platform.
- A cloud-based satellite enables access to satellite data directly from the cloud.
- While in orbit, the JANUS-1 will perform IoT communications, advanced experimental laser communications, radio communications, and ML.
- Antaris and Ananth Technologies plan to collaborate on the development of additional tech demonstration satellites in the future.
