The Register reported that Google and Mozilla are working on iOS browsers that use their own Blink and Gecko rendering engines.   Apple requires web browsers on iOS and iPadOS to use Safari's WebKit engine.  According to The Register, Google and Mozilla are anticipating a change in the iOS App Store policy that restricts third-party browser engines.  Apple is facing regulatory pressure in multiple countries to open up its App Store policies.  In October, The Register discovered an issue posted in the GitHub repository for Firefox's iOS app version with reference to GeckoView.  A Mozilla spokesperson told The Register that the company is doing some exploratory work to understand the technical challenges for Gecko-based browsers on iOS.
