The U.S. military said it has recovered electronics from a downed Chinese balloon.
A U.S. fighter shot down the suspected Chinese spy balloon on Feb. 4 after it spent a week traversing U.S. and Canadian airspace.
- The U.S. military said on Monday that sensors presumed to be for intelligence gathering were among the components taken from the balloon wreckage.
- The FBI is examining some of the recovered items, which are believed to have been used to gather data on U.S. military installations.
- The Pentagon began closely scrutinizing U.S. airspace after the spy balloon incident, leading to the downing of three unidentified objects between Friday and Sunday.
- Authorities have yet to gather details about the most recently destroyed devices.
- U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters on Monday that the aerial objects recently downed over U.S. airspace "do not present a military threat to anyone on the ground."
