UPS will begin negotiations with the Teamsters union for a new national contract after the 2018 contract's expiration.

Negotiations might be difficult as the union threatened to strike if UPS does not give higher wages, more manageable work shifts, and better safety conditions.

  • The union also wants to reduce employee surveillance. In particular, it wants to remove Ring cameras on trucks.
  • The Teamsters represent over 340,000 UPS workers.
  • COVID-19 increased UPS deliveries and pressured working conditions.
  • In Q2 2022, UPS workers delivered globally an average of 28 million packages per day.
