Walmart plans to close three of its U.S. technology hubs in Austin, Texas; Carlsbad, California; and Portland, Oregon.
The
retail giant is also requiring workers at these locations to relocate
to keep their jobs and will start requiring tech workers to come to the
office at least two days a week.
- Walmart
said it will pay for workers to relocate to one of its other primary
locations in San Bruno, California, or to its headquarters in
Bentonville, Arkansas.
- Walmart has about 11 tech hubs in the U.S. and six abroad.
- Last
year the company announced plans to open new tech hubs in Atlanta and
Toronto and had planned to add thousands of new hires to the company.
- Walmart is scheduled to report its quarterly earnings next week.
